Any Supro users?
I am thinking about getting a Supro amp and I am seeing if anyone has one or what their thoughts are them.

Re: Any Supro users?
I have a 1624 Dual-Tone and 6420 Thunderbolt. Both sound stunning with single coils and colossal with humbuckers and P90s. I like the Thunderbolt a little more with strats and JMs, but the Dual-Tone is right there with it. Maybe it's just personal taste, in that regard. Totally different tones due to the differences in 6L6 tubes and 6973s.
Perhaps this is instructive in how much I like these amps: for the Dual Tone I traded a Swart Atomic Space Tone. I had always thought that amps had to be handwired and not PCB and this was a leap for me. But I tried to shed my biases and just 'listen'. The Dual Tone sounded much bigger, filled up a room better, and had tone that I truly appreciated. I traded a Goodsell Super 17 for the Thunderbolt and haven't looked back. The 15" speaker in the T-Bolt really has some complexity that I am only used to hearing in amps that have two or more speakers.
I've had the Dual-Tone almost two years and the Thunderbolt for a little over one. This is the most satisfied I've been with amps in years as I'm kind of a serial flipper. In addition, I've had no reliability issues with either amp.
I hope this was of some help.

Re: Any Supro users?
Addendum, sorry: I am thinking of buying the Supro Tremo-Verb as a grab and go amp for small gigs or going over to a friend's place to play, as it features reverb and tremolo (duh!) and I would only need a tuner. It's only 30 lbs but the 10" speaker really can fill a room. Quite amazing, really.

Re: Any Supro users?
Tafarel - This actually a huge help so I am thinking actually about the the 6420 Thunderbolt. I found what I think is a pretty good deal, the amp being 35 watts seems gig-able. Part of me is resisting because it doesn't have reverb and trem which is sounds soooo lush of Surpos. The other option is the 1650RT Royal Reverb 2x10 which has Reverb and Trem but a little more pricey (the switch wattage also sounds really appealing). Do you find yourself gigging with one or both amps (Dual tone/Thunderbolt).
I have played a few of the models in some shops and really just think every setting sounds great, but because its not with my guitar/pedals (open tuning and a little slide) its hard to say what I need.
Correct me if I am wrong but the only model that has a cabinet out is Titan. I have always been a head and cab guy so this is also a pretty big step for me (Orange overdrive 120 4X12 or 4x10).
Again thank you

I have a 1622t Tremoverb. I got it as a grab.n.go tyoe with trem and reverb.
Tremelo is great - reverb is awesome. Its a great amp really. It can be pretty dark sounding, or darker than a fender style amp. It takes overdrives and 'klone' type pedals well.
It will get loud.

Re: Any Supro users?
Actually, I've gigged with both of them and both are plenty loud with a bombastic drummer. The Dual-Tone is a little easier to schlep around, but the the Thunderbolt is not that hard on my back. Different sounds, however. The Thunderbolt has pretty classic, albeit early 6L6 breakup and I'm in love with that sound. I like the Dual-Tone a little better with humbuckers.
I am working on a deal this week to acquire a Tremo-Verb. It is a pretty amazing amp and I think the reverb sits before the trem in the path (could be wrong) -- cavernous. As mekhem says, it gets really loud and I am amazed by how well it fills up space, as I said. I don't think you can go far wrong with any of the Supro line. I've played the Black Magick, the Coronado and the Thunderbolt with the switchable rectifier. I like the bog-standard T-Bolt because I appreciate simplicity in my amps. Volume-Tone... sorted.

Mekhem- 1622t Tremoverb enough for stage and a loud drummer. Its just 25 watts in 1x10. Has anyone tried to make this go out to an external cab or is it not needed?

I have never had it on stage but I would assume it would hang in there.

I found that even at a "try-out-in-a-store" volume it had an unacceptable amount of cabinet rattle.Snake Hips wrote:Mekhem- 1622t Tremoverb enough for stage and a loud drummer. Its just 25 watts in 1x10. Has anyone tried to make this go out to an external cab or is it not needed?
To be fair though I hate 90% of combo amps for this reason.

No rattle in either of my Supro's, either. And we play loud, very loud.marqueemoon wrote:I found that even at a "try-out-in-a-store" volume it had an unacceptable amount of cabinet rattle.Snake Hips wrote:Mekhem- 1622t Tremoverb enough for stage and a loud drummer. It's possible something else was rattling nearby, or maybe I was looking for any excuse not to fall in love with it because it otherwise sounded great and I'm broke.
Try before you buy if you can though.

Re: Any Supro users?
I went to (cough) Guitar Center yesterday to try a few Surpos out. Black Magick and Big Star, both were really amazing.... Neither had verb so still really considering the Thunderbolt.

Re: Any Supro users?
Remember, the Thunderbolt has no reverb, either. The TremoVerb on the other hand...
I tried a Big Star a couple of months back and loved it, but the weight was too much for me aching back. Still, it's a Twin killer if there's need for such a thing.
FWIW, I run an inordinate amount of reverb pedals into my T-Bolt -- one at a time, of course, and it loves them. Neunaber Wet, Mr. Black Eterna, TC Electronic HOF, TC Electronic T2, and a Polara. All different flavors, and all sound great through that amp. If that's the direction you go it won't disappoint.
