or I could take the 12" and have a cab made for it th same width and style as the combo's and sit the combo ontop...
have them both plugged in, mini-stack style!
...but I better focus on that Les Paul first!

The Gold 12 is 100db and the Gold 10 is 98db so you will lose 2db but gain I think 3db per additional speaker. I'm no techy but I think thats plus 7db which is significantly louder.
Be careful of using Jensens as some of those are only 93db

Peavey used to make a 4x10" cabinet like that, you might be able to get one used cheap.

Just as a thought, you have a 4x10" cab in your rehearsal space, right? I guess lugging the deluxe over there would be a pain but if you ran it through that then it would give you an idea of how it might sound before you lash out on a bunch of speakers (I know the impedances wouldn't be matched, but still).

...but I guess that could give me a taster of the change I could experience

The P8R is 92.5db so I am right. The 10's are 95db so you are right. Everyone wins :-\

Re: Are four 10" Speakers louder than one 12"?
In my experience, the actual volume of the cabinet can make a huge difference too...
I built a 2x10" cab some years ago with the measurements 70x50x30 cm (about 28x20x12 inches). I put ceramic Jensen (C10Q.. IIRC) in there and they looked really tiny on that huge baffle. I did this so I would have the option to fit two 12 inchers in there if I ever changed my mind.
What's to consider is that the baffle will also serve as a kind of extension of the speaker's membrane if it has a certain size... (frequency dependent)
Another aspect is whether it's a closed or an open-back cabinet.
My over-sized 2x10 cab sounds extremely loud.. although it is somewhat bassy, which is why I usually use it in open-back mode (it's convertible).

Yannis, I think it's obvious what you really need. You need two more Tweed Deluxe clones with oversized cabs. One with 4x10 and another with 1x15. Yum.

You'd have no need for a band. Just set the amps up around the room, stand in the middle and blast away!zhivago wrote:that, would be amazing!!!StevenO wrote: Yannis, I think it's obvious what you really need.
