Preamp tubes

Post by Infliktor » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:34 pm

Tubes:
Poweramp:                  V1, V2:                6L6GC matched set.

Preamp:                      V3 (input tube):  ECC 83 / 12AX7, FQ selected;
                                    V4, V5:                ECC 83 / 12AX7 selected;
                                    V6:                      ECC 83 / 12AX7, standard;

Which of these preamp tubes affect the tone?

What does FQ selected mean?

What does selected mean?

Oh. I dunno actually.  ;D

The only thing  I can comment on the Fireball is that I find that they sound Fan-tas-tic with my CIJ Jazzmaster!

That is rather strange.  I don't know that particular amp.  If you had a link to a schematic, I might be able to tell you what is what in terms of which tube does what.
