I've been following along too. Great stuff all around.

This cap here is soldered to the "ON/OFF" switch and is grounded to the "Ground Switch" in the back"   :o

I believe this bitch is a death cap.   >:(

Does it eventually connect to the chassis somewhere?

Yes the black wire coming out of the switch goes to the chassis. Could I just remove it and make the "Ground Sw" a Stand-by switch? Would that get me another 5 points?

My shipment from tubes and more came in and the amp is all done!

Brad once again for taking the time to help me out, I now have some basic amp skills!   :)

A while back I had bought EH replacements for all the preamp tubes, I took out all of them but one. I put back 3 of the old tubes back. Two JJ's 12AX7 and one Philips 6AQ8. The rest I stupidly threw out. Also what was causing the weird noise was a bad EL84, I wiggled one and the noise started. I replaced it temporarily with the Raytheon from the Kalamazoo. The amp sounds the same as it sounded before (Tonewise), there is however a bit of a volume increase. The reverb seems more subtle now (I kinda liked it a little more before tho') Haven't tried it after the tube swap tho' (I live in an apartment and it's late)  I don't know if that may have an effect tho....    :-\

I also while at it put some spades connectors on the speaker wires. They match the can cap nicely. Now I want a blue jewel light. However the light needs replacing and im not sure which one goes in there   :-\

Looks like you got it going!  Awesome!

I'm happy to help.  As for the light, it's probably just a regular 6.3v bayonet base bulb.  Available at radio shack or wherever.  The pilot lamp almost always runs off of the filament supply, so it's almost always 6.3v.

It's possible your EL84 wasn't bad.  It might have just needed wiggling around in the socket.  My pro junior gets temperamental like that, sometimes.  I just wiggle the tube and it's fine until it gets loose again.  Perhaps a spring tube retainer would help prevent that from happening.

And even tho one or two of the solder joints look a little rough i tell you they're solid. Thx for the tip on the light.  :D
